Although I don't use FirstClass for my regular blogs, I have looked at the tool out of interest. From the top level of the Web Publishing folder, if I select New Web Page one of the options is to create a blog.
The main reason I don't use the blog is because I my current favourite is Posterous. It is a rising star that I found via the New York Times which has an excellent technology section.
Not only is it free, but it integrates easily with lots of other stuff - I use it with Facebook, and with some of my existing blogs. The most brilliant bit is that you can send an email with an attachment and Posterous does all the hard work - converts PDFs into iPaper, puts the images in, handles audio and video files. Send an email with a web link in the body and not only will Posterous show the link. it does clever stuff with image and title as well.
Recommended without reservation because it is free, easy, clever and flexible. My second favourite is Blogger (Google's blog tool). Wordpress is OK but not as much fun for me. The FirstClass blog tool is good because it uses the same techniques as posting messages in FirstClass.
