The Philosophy conference created and moderated by young resarchers shows an array of mail that covers citizenship and spiritual issues.
Adult participation is purposfully minimal.
The text below consists of extracts from the thread titled 'death' and initiated by a young researcher:

Thinking about death
I have a question to pose
to everyone.
I tend to ponder the oddest things sometimes,
I just wanted to know everyone's views on Death? No not the dying, the myth
or legend of what Death is I mean what is it? Is it a cloaked figure with a
scythe?
If so is it gender-less, male or female?
Is it a skeleton is it an animal, monster, creature, a human maybe it's just
an apparition?
Death is in every culture, so we all know of Death, it's around us every day
weather we want it to be or not.
But what exactly is Death?
And not the scientific reasoning, because as we know not everything in life
is logical even though it might seem like it, this is probably like asking what
came first the chicken or the egg, but I'd like to know what other people think
of the myth, but is it a myth really?
Death could just be an understanding we have, Everyone knows it happens.
Or is Death a place? somewhere you travel to like another journey opposite from
the one we live right now.
My own personal view is that Death is a woman, not to sure about the black cloak
and scythe thing though, I just always thought it was a woman, like the Ice/snow
demons, they give you the icy kiss of death, but that's my view
But enough of my rambling, thoughts and musing's I want to know what you think
Death is.

Life is always worth living
Death is always to be feared
For those who look forward to Death
Thier life is not really lived
Hope you understand what
this means

why is death to be feared? I mean I know some people are but it happens to every
one it is the only sure inevitability in life so why should it be feared?.
"Beyond faith… beyond reason… beyond all else there lies…
hope."

Yeah like (above contributor). Why should death be feared? Some people believe
in life after death.
In this case then we have not lived until we die.
=)

Resercher 4
I don't think there's a life after death.
So in that case i'd rather not die. =P
The closest you'll prob get to 'Life After Death' is maybe just a long dream?
(^_^)

or a life lived in fear is a life half lived
so therefore if you were to live in fear of death you would not really be living
at all......

Resercher 4
I don't fear death =P.
If you die then you die, it was ment to b, ur destiny!! gonna happan one day
so i aint botherd, id just rather try and AVOID dying for a wile =P.

hahahahahahaha, Death is not to be feared, except by those who are lost. I do
not fear death... because i know its certainly not the end...
I would rather not die............... because then i wouldn't be here to help
guide people to ultimate spiritual enlightenment........
And also what we learn b4 we die is totally different to what we will learn
after we die...... so i wanna become much wiser as a disciple on this earth
under the protection of the divine before i die, because it is totally different
to when we are disciples not on this earth and so it greatly effects how we
will be in "heaven" ....
MY STATE OF BEING IS TRUELY AMAZING.... Yeah!!!!!!!!!
With Love......
