Evidence of significant learning from modules 1 and 4 module 1 Research proposal: Intended learning at the start of the third year ![]() Module 4 Significant Learning achieved by the end of the year
• a small first person action research study such as mine can only reliably make small claims to measurable impact. (LO 1)(1) • that other impact may be occurring but that it is too subtle to see within the time scale of the modules (LO 1)(1) • that the first person action research model was appropriate in my context. • that my choice of data collection methods was slightly flawed in cycles 1 & 2 • that writing up action research reports demands a balance between clarity and brevity (LO2)(2) • that the model of AR used needs to be made explicit in every account of the research (LO2)(2) • that my choice to extend definition of my practice beyond my workplace role was worthwhile. (LO3)(3) • that I would still like to move the project to a more collaborative AR (LO4)(4) • that the role of critical friend, (which I knew about from my research job role), was vital to the validation of my research. I was able to take learning from the off-line highly collaborative environment and apply it to my small scale, first person, on-line context. (LO 2)(2) • that large amounts of data and literature were left in my learning journal, unreported. Despite this they have played subtle yet important roles in my choices of actions. (LO3 & LO4)(3)(4) • that for a little while I lost sight of what I was doing and became despondent about the low response levels from the two groups in cycles 1 and 2. I'd let go of my hold on the place of this sort of data in first person AR and begun to see it as the most important source rather than just one aspect of triangulated data.(LO3)(3) • that reflection can be a powerful tool for the analysis of projects as well as incidents.(L01)(1) • the tension between the needs of the research and that of the degree adds to the stress of both. (LO4 and additional learning)(4) (5) • That without a creative aspect to what I do I loose heart. (additional LO)(5) • that I continue to find it very hard to identify my learning (LO3, 4 and additional LO) Back to section2 |
