Cycle 1 of the main research

Cycle 1 of the main research
I asked people who are members of the Classroom Displays Group on Flickr if they would help with my research.
1.On-line focus group/emails (mostly teachers - wide geographic spread)
These replies were analysed (using grounded theory), added to my own reflections and the quantitative data from the blog software. I made several changes to the blog based on these.

Cycle 2 of the main research

The TA Chat Forum.
I found that there were teaching assistants talking about displays there already. I joined the forum, showed them my blog and joined in their conversations about displays.
2. Message board questions/emails (teaching assistants mostly UK based)
Then I analysed my data. These gave me a new set of changes to work on to improve the blog.
This formed cycle 2 of the main research.

Cycle 3 and an emergent idea
While this was happening I had an idea. The kind of research I am doing is called emergent research and this means that I can take my research off in a new direction if the data points that way. This led to my branching off into the 'postcards' cycle. This 'side-shoot' cycle eventually fed back into the main research, pointing the way forward to a third cycle. That cycle is on-going.
