What I needed to know.
Classroom Displays

During my course I got very interested in classroom displays. They are a big part of my job. I found out that most people in our school think they are important both for helping us to learn and to show what we've learned. I knew that this was true not just in our school but all over the country and even in other countries.
I did a lot of research about how and why displays are used. I looked at what makes a display helpful. I read lots of books and articles that people had written about displays and the effects
they thought displays had on children's learning. Then I interviewed teachers and children in our school about what they thought a good display should be like.
I collected photographs of many of the displays in our school, and some from other schools and put them on a photo-sharing web site called Flickr. I started a group there so that other people could put their display photographs on too. At the start of this project I showed the group to some of the teachers and other people and asked them some questions about it.
What I found out
Their answers showed me that although they thought it was a good idea, there were somethings they thought I could improve:

• They did not like the adverts
• They did not want to have to join a special group to be able to leave comments on photos.
• They wanted to know more about how the displays had been made and why.
That meant I had a problem. I had to find a way to change the Classroom Displays Archive to make it easier to use.
