A
A praised the sites and all my hard work. Put a 'good work' sticker on the bottom of log sheet. He mentioned that finding the portal page had been difficult because of the complicated url. He said he's spent about an hour looking through it all and following all the links. He said there was a lot more to Hansel and Gretal than he had realised. It was a very positive encounter and he seemed happy to get involved.

B
B admitted she hadn't been able to find the site with the links and thought she might have typed it in wrong. She had read something that might have been one of my reports, she described it as very dry and boring.
I offered to show her how to find the links portal page after school and she agreed. She said she was keen to improve her computer skills and knew it was something she had to work at.
I met her in her classroom and talked her through each step of tying in the url. I explained how important precision is when typing urls and how a small error can lead to being in the wrong place. I talked her through the sites she could visit from the portal page, showing her that she needed to click on the underlined words and that these were set to open in a new browser window.
It surprised her that she could close the new window and the portal page would be open underneath.
Whilst we were looking round she was very positive about the classroom displays archive and saw a display she wanted to print off and try for herself. I showed her how easy it was to print the page.
She decided to try by herself at home but to only look at one site - so as not to get confused or
have to spend too much time on it at one session
C
C returned the sheet but said she'd been a bit confused by what was wanted on it. She wanted to be sure she'd 'done it right' and had worried about what was meant by 'distractions'
D
D self selected having seen C returning sheet she asked what it was about and said she'd like to be involved. When returning the sheet she asked if she'd been right about her interpretation of 'distractions' as being things happening around her at home. I confirmed that this was fine.
