Learning Outcome Learning Evidence

1.Evaluate appropriateness of your chosen methodology and the research methods used.

• the first person action research model was highly appropriate in my context.

• my choice of data collection methods was slightly flawed in cycles 1 & 2

• a small first person action research study such as mine can only reliably make small claims to measurable impact.
• that other impact may be occurring but that it is too subtle to see within the time scale of the modules

(2). Present and defend your findings (This will include the confidence and ability to present an impact study to critical audience.)

• My choice to publish my research journal on-line via my blog meant that I was able to build up my confidence and was used to responding to comments about what I'd written.

• writing up action research reports demands a balance between clarity and brevity

• that the model of AR used needs to be made explicit in every account of the research

• that the role of critical friend, (which I knew about from my research job role), was vital to the validation of my research.

Defence (section3)

I was able to take learning from the off-line highly collaborative environment and apply it to my small scale, first person, on-line context.

(3). Demonstrate appropriate knowledge skills and understanding in addressing complex problems relevant to practice.

Large amounts of data and literature were left in my learning journal, unreported. Despite this they have played subtle yet important roles in my choice of actions and analysis of data Defence (section 3)
(4)Critically evaluate evidence to justify and support conclusions/recommendations drawn from your research Conclusions drawn from research were simplified and better evidenced in this account .The double loop reflection allowed me to look at aspects of my practice that detract from my evaluation of the research.

The double loop (Section 4)

(5) Additional emergent learning outcomes of module • the tension between the needs of the research and that of the degree adds to the stress of both.
• that a creative aspect to activities is vital to sustain my interest..
• I continue to find it very hard to identify my learning
